FINALLY....AFTER 24 YEARS OF WAITING!!!!

Sorry for all you animal lovers but this is much needed post!!!! My dad has been waiting to draw out for a ONCE IN A LIFETIME moose tag for over 20 years and he finally got it. Believe me, he has put in some hard work for this hunt like dragging Gabe and my brother-in-law weekend after weekend on ridiculous hikes and overnight camping just to find one. He was having no luck. I'm talking, not even seeing a moose and the hunt was coming to an end. The rest of the fam were getting worried and even talking about saving our pennies to send him to Alaska if he wasn't successful here in Utah. Despite the crazy weather this weekend and doubts about taking another trip up early Saturday morning because of the rain, he decided to buck up and just go see what he could see. He knew his time was running out so he put on his rain gear and took off. And sure enough....they heard some grunting way off somewhere and the boys just started making cow sounds (can you only imagine how funny that would have been to see?) to hopefully draw him in and that little Bullwinkle came running into plain sight. My dad said he came in so close he could have shot him with a bow but he got him with his 45-70. He said calling him in like that was the neatest thing he has ever done. WAY TO GO DAD!!!!LOVE YA!



Getting to work...

My dads good friends came up with horses to help us haul it out. Moose weigh way too much to carry.

That is Shannon hanging on to one horse looking a little wet.

But unfortunatlely we were having trouble keeping the head and cape straight on the saddle so Clint our "Mountain Goat" (hahaha) strapped him on his back. It rained the entire time and the trail was downhill and just MUD!
