CRUZ

Cruz Adams finally made his arrival on February 5th at 12:23 pm. He lived up to the predictions of the Doctors and ultrasounds for sure. I was induced one week early and he was delivered C-section. He weighed in at 9 lbs. 9 oz. and was 20 inches long with the cutest darkest hair.

What Binky?!

We are on day number 2 and night number 3 without "skittles"- that is what Gabe and I have been calling her bink around her. I am in total shock over this whole situation!! I go to work at 7am so I am not there in the mornings but Gabe says she has said, "binky go to the fishies, bye bye bink" when she wakes up and that is it. I get home around 11am and have not heard her say the *B* word once since the day we chucked them. Seriously?? Is this normal? She was definitely a binky girl for sure and to just not even talk about it all day is so bizarre to me. Its like the bink never even existed. She goes right to bed at night and naps everyday around 12:30-1:00, however, there is a little more conversation going on her room but no cries for skittles. AWESOME! Now lets just hope it stays this way when brother gets here and he happens to like binks.

As for me and this pregnancy....I am at my whits end!! I feel like Squints on the Sandlot. "I CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!" I swear I was never pregnant with Bostyn. I could have ran a marathon with her at 41 weeks the day they induced me. With this one I get no sleep. I look forward to like every 3-4 days at night cause I know I will be dead tired by then and sleep like a log. I am just so uncomfortable ALWAYS! He moves constantly, it is like he is fighting back with me trying to get comfortable himself...poor little guy. Oh and I don't mean poor little guy. According to back to back ultrasounds last week he is big guy with his dads big head. I am measuring 4 weeks ahead at every visit. We are for sure having a c-sec on the 5th of February (39 weeks). Gabe has got to be so sick of me by now. But lovin it at the same time cause he gets the whole bed to himself every night cause I always end up on the couch. If I lay down to certain level it's instant heartburn and little throw-ups, I sleep sitting up on the couch or Gabe has designed this awesome homemade recliner in bed that consists of 8 pillows, yes 8 pillows! Anyways, I can do this....only 2 1/2 more weeks to go.

NO MORE BINKS....and NO TEARS!

We had Bostyn's 2 year check up last week and she is doing really well. Bostyn is still in the 98th percentile for her height and weighs 30 pounds! Our pediatrician who we absolutely love said the sooner we get rid of the bink before baby brother comes the easier and better. Also we will be saving ourselves lots of money in the long run at the dentist if perhaps the bink does some damage.

So we decided that Sunday it was time. We told Bostyn throughout the day that we were going to give her binks to the fishies. So we took her down to the river and did it. She was so pumped when we got there cause we were just throwing in rocks and she was having a blast. Then dad said ok lets throw in her bink to the fishies and her mood instantly changed. She kept hiding her bink behind her back and trying to walk back to the car and get away from us.

Then I just did it. I grabbed it and threw it in. She looked at me like what the heck are you doing mom then she bawled and bawled. So we gave her the next one. Same thing, she had a death grip on that thing and was trying to run away, I had to be the mean one again and grabbed it and threw it in. It felt like child abuse and Iwas hoping no one was watching!!
Then there was one left and we gave it to her and she didn't even hesitate with this one. She just threw it in and said, "bye bye binky." Which the 3rd one was awful because she isn't big enough to throw the bink clear out to the river where it was moving fast so it would just carry away, she just tossed it in right next to the bank and it sat there and floated right in front of us and she was freaking out. Actually we all started to panic just watching it float there. Gabe finally found a stick and nudged it along. She cried and cried as they floated away and we all said our goodbyes. She cried all the way back to the truck and cried all the way to the gas station for treats. She stopped for a minute here and there to enjoy her sucker, gum, bug juice, candy necklace, skittles...hahahaha, yes we let her pick out whatever she wanted. And on the way home she just kept waving and saying bye bye binky.

I'm not going to lie....I had to turn around on the bank a couple of times so Gabe and Tutu would not see the tears in my eyes. My heart was broke too!
Here she is all happy throwing in the rocks.
Then dad said the words and she was trying to get out of there.
Dad trying to talk her into throwing it in.
and here is the 3rd one that just sat there and floated, it was traumatic for all of us.

So you are probably wondering how our bedtime with Bostyn went. I am seriously not even lying, she did not make one single cry. On the monitor she said maybe twice "bye bye binky" and that was it!!!! I was so scared to take it away all this time because of what it would do to her at night and sleeping and she did so good. Today she has not said binky to me once and it is almost night night time so we will see how it goes. But so far I cannot believe it!!! Seriously its like the binky never even existed. She is such a little sweetheart and I am one proud mama!

This experience made me want to give up something too. If she had to give up something she has been so comforted with for two years, cold turkey then I should to. I still have not decided what that would be for me but I will. And sorry if we have offended anyone by throwing the binks into the river like a duck or fish might choke on them and die or for littering or whatever. I just figured it was no different then the people who tie them to balloons and let them float away. A bird could choke on a bink and die too right?

HAPPY 27 YEARS TO GABE

CHEEEEEESTHTHTHTH

So Bostyn sees a camera and immediately says cheese. So in all her pictures she looks like this. She holds the word cheeeesssththe out until the camera flashes or you put it down.

I just wanted to say I am such a proud mom!! Gabe and I sang her the ABC's on Sunday a couple times and Monday I mentioned the ABC song to her and she just started singing away, the whole dang song A-Z all by herself! She is so stinkin smart. I am taking the credit for this but I probably should also thank Elmo, Baby Einsteins, Wonder Pets, Max & Ruby, Dora, and possibly Spongebob.

NEW YEARS

We started off our new year with some friends up to their cabin at Sundance. Their place is beautiful. We just relaxed, munched on yummy food and let the kids play. We took them out on some hills for some sledding and some snow angel making! Its so fun to watch Bostyn play with other kids because she just loves interacting. As parents it was funny because we would hear one kid start crying and we would all sit and wait for the tattle to come next. I think each kid got in their few punches but they also got along pretty good for the most part. Our trip ended however with a Zhu Zhu pet that got put on top of a head and the hair ended up being cut with scissors to get it out of the wheels.....I will say my Bostyn had no part in this (phew) although it was Bostyn's Zhu Zhu pet.......sorry!

Snow Fun

Bostyn totally LOVED the snow. She kept saying "YAY, YAY,YAY" the whole time we were out there. She surprised the heck out of me when she layed down and said, "snow angel" and made a snow angel. I couldn't get my camera out quick enough when she would do it cause it was only for a second each time. She must have learned that on TV or something. I was out there shoveling the snow and she thought her baby snow shovel (windshield scraper) was cool and was helping like a big girl.

Then she learned she could eat the snow and that's pretty much all that mattered anymore.

Oh and in case you were wondering she does not have a black eye. That is her pretty make-up that she gets from Grandma Taralyne. Well Grandma let her take some home and she helped herself on the car ride home. And for some reason when I took this picture CHUCKY came to mind......what do you think?
